About the piece:
The main idea of this work is the atmospheric phenomenon known as mirage. It is an optical illusion caused by the refraction of light through a non‐uniform medium. There is a secondary concept based in the etymological origin of the Latin word “mirare”, that means “to
look at” and “to wonder at”. These two motives culminated in the creation of material based in distorted images, it transformation and a passive contemplation of it.
About the composer:
Marta Lozano Molano was born in Cáceres, Spain in 1985. She studied piano and composition at the Professional Conservatory Hermanos Berzosa of Cáceres and singing at the Professional Conservatory Francisco Escudero of San Sebastián. In 2010 she finished her degree in composition at the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country “Musikene”of San Sebastián, where she studied with Gabriel Erkoreka, Stefano Scarani and Christophe Havel.
In 2012 she finished a Guildhall Artists Master in Composition Guildhall School of Music and Drama of London, with Paul Newland. She has been singing at London Symphony Chorus from 2010 to 2012 and conducted Red and Green Choir in London. Nowadays she is studying a PhD in Spain.
